We popped down to Sussex on Sunday. Dropped in to Mathew and Gemma first on the common for coffee with Mathew clearing out the shed in anticipation of work starting on repairing the roof this week. Ma and Pa seemed in good form. Played cards with the boys, climbing trees, trips to the skate park over the road, going through old RHS magazines... Picked a half dozen of daffodils in the garden that had just come out down on the bank by the stream.
In the afternoon we joined Mathew and family and his friend Kev and family on a trip to the beach at Rottingdean, although much debate with Frances about whether it was raining too hard. A spare kagool was found for Peri. The centre of Rottingdean is rather nice with a village pond and lots of flint houses. The beach has granite rocky groynes and the inevitable shingle and chalk cliffs crumbling onto the concrete walls and walkways. The rain eased a bit so eventually Frances ventured from the warmth of the car. Lotsof throing stones into the waves with amazingly no children being hit. Archie probably got the wettest - about up to his knees. Tyler thought he was very clever standing on a rock to escape the waves coming in, then he realised that he had no escape route as the rock became surrounded by water, then the water went over the top of the rock.
Back to Mama-Clare's and Papas for baked potatoes, then home.
